Rawalpindi, December 2, 2025: Security forces killed seven terrorists in two intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.

According to the military’s media wing, the operations were conducted on confirmed intelligence regarding the presence of khawarij — a term used by the state for militants associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also referred to as Fitna al-Khawarij.

The ISPR said the first IBO was carried out in the general area of Mir Ali. “During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khawarij location and after an intense fire exchange, six khawarij were sent to hell,” the statement said.

In a separate operation in Spinwam, security forces killed another terrorist. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the militants, who, according to ISPR, were “actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces, law enforcement agencies and the target killing of innocent civilians”.

The military added that sanitisation operations were underway to clear the area of any remaining “Indian-sponsored khawarij,” reaffirming that the counterterrorism campaign under the vision Azm-i-Istehkam — approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan — would continue “at full pace” to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.

The latest operations come days after security forces killed 22 terrorists in an IBO in Dera Ismail Khan last Thursday following an intense exchange of fire.

Pakistan has seen a rise in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the TTP unilaterally ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.
