London, December 8, 2025: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday expressed his determination to elevate the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to the status of the world’s leading franchise cricket league, calling it “not a difficult task.”

Speaking at the PSL Roadshow at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, Naqvi shared his vision for the league during a panel discussion featuring cricketing legends Ramiz Raja and Wasim Akram, moderated by PSL CEO Salman Naseer.

“To make this league the world’s No.1 league. That’s the vision,” Naqvi said. “And with so many people around like Ramiz and Wasim, I don’t think it’s a difficult task. I am very confident we will achieve it.”

Naqvi revealed that he had received valuable guidance from former and current national players, including Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, and Sahibzada Farhan, which he described as “worth implementing.”

Recalling his early involvement with the league, Naqvi admitted regretting a missed opportunity during the inaugural 2016 franchise auction. “I was ready to spend on just one team. If I had bid for all teams, I would have got one,” he said. “But still, I feel bad because the price of the team owners got then is now worth many times more. My advice to potential investors: take the risk. In ten years, it will be worth it.”

The PSL, which began in 2016 with five franchises, is set to expand further in its 11th edition next year with the addition of two new teams, bringing the total number of franchises to eight. The expansion will mark the league’s first major restructuring in seven years.

Naqvi expressed confidence that with the support of cricketing legends and a growing investor base, the PSL will continue to grow as a premier platform for domestic and international cricket talent.
