Islamabad, December 9, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reiterated that Pakistan has always strived for regional and international peace and peaceful coexistence, while reaffirming the country’s unwavering resolve to further strengthen its defence capabilities.

In a message on the occasion of historic Hangor Day, commemorated annually on December 9, the prime minister paid rich tribute to the Pakistan Navy for its heroic role during the 1971 war. He said that on this day, the officers and personnel of Pakistan Navy submarine Hangor demonstrated exceptional courage and professionalism, rendering the country’s defence invincible.

Commending the navy’s legacy of bravery, Prime Minister Sharif said the Pakistan Navy has consistently thwarted the enemy’s covert designs with valour and unmatched professionalism, thereby enhancing the nation’s prestige.

“Through their bravery and gallantry, the officers of Hangor made Pakistan’s maritime defence formidable and etched an enduring chapter in the country’s history,” the PM Office Media Wing quoted the prime minister as saying in a press release.

He added that Hangor Day serves as a powerful reminder to adversaries that the defence of Pakistan’s maritime frontiers remains in strong and capable hands.
