Islamabad, December 14, 2025: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rain and snowfall in several parts of the country, with the wet spell expected to continue until December 18.
According to the PMD, Islamabad and adjoining areas will remain under cloudy conditions from Sunday, with intermittent rainfall likely over the next few days. Similar weather is expected in Murree, Galiyat and nearby hill stations, where rain and snowfall may disrupt routine activities and travel.
A western weather system is set to affect northern and northwestern regions between December 13 and 15, bringing rain and snowfall to upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Kohistan, as well as various parts of Gilgit-Baltistan. Authorities have warned that heavy snowfall in mountainous areas of upper KP and Kohistan could lead to road closures and travel difficulties.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, rainfall is expected in the plains, while hilly and mountainous areas may receive moderate to heavy snowfall. Upper parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and mountainous regions of AJK could also experience intense snowfall, potentially affecting road connectivity and daily life.
Balochistan, including Quetta, Ziarat and adjoining northwestern districts, is likely to see light rainfall, while snowfall is expected in higher-altitude areas. Plains may receive light to moderate rain, with intermittent snowfall continuing in elevated and northern locations.
In view of the forecast, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory, cautioning that slippery roads in hilly regions could disrupt traffic and result in temporary closures.
The NDMA has advised tourists and travellers to avoid non-essential travel to mountainous areas during this period. Local administrations have been urged to remain on alert, while citizens have been encouraged to keep monitoring weather updates and take precautionary measures to minimise risks associated with severe weather conditions.
