Rawalpindi, December 31, 2025: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), on Tuesday interacted with participants of the 18th National Workshop on Balochistan at General Headquarters (GHQ), where discussions focused on the province’s socio-economic development and its strategic importance for Pakistan.
Addressing the participants, the COAS & CDF paid tribute to the resilience and patriotism of the people of Balochistan, describing the province as pivotal to Pakistan’s prosperity and long-term development. He appreciated the wide-ranging initiatives being undertaken by the federal and provincial governments, emphasizing a people-centric approach aimed at improving socio-economic conditions and unlocking Balochistan’s vast economic potential for the benefit of its people.
The army chief also acknowledged the constructive role of civil society, particularly in countering misinformation and propaganda, and highlighted its importance in promoting sustainable development. He stressed the need to reject vested political agendas, underlining that Balochistan’s future must be shaped by a vision of inclusive and long-term prosperity for all its residents.
Highlighting the prevailing security challenges, Field Marshal Asim Munir said that Indian-sponsored proxies continue attempts to foment violence and disrupt development in the province. He reaffirmed that such inimical designs would be thwarted through firm and decisive actions by security forces to rid Balochistan of terrorism and unrest.
Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability, the COAS & CDF emphasized that any violation of Pakistan’s territorial integrity, whether direct or indirect, would be met with a strong and resolute response. He assured that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully committed to safeguarding the lives and well-being of the nation’s citizens.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which the COAS & CDF responded to participants’ queries and shared further insights into ongoing efforts aimed at ensuring Balochistan’s development and security.
