Islamabad, January 1, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday chaired the inaugural meeting of the Committee on Economic Management Reforms, marking the start of a coordinated push to implement the government’s comprehensive economic agenda.
The meeting reviewed the way forward for rolling out holistic economic reforms across key sectors, including energy, the social sector and governance. Participants held detailed discussions on the role of the Planning Commission and other relevant ministries in ensuring effective coordination and implementation.
Emphasising the need for sustained and inclusive growth, Senator Dar stressed that priority must be given to sectors with the potential to act as catalysts for higher economic output and broad-based development.
The meeting was attended in person by the Minister for Planning, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, the National Coordinator of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the Secretary Planning, and senior officials. Ministers for Finance, Economic Affairs Division (EAD) and Climate Change joined the meeting virtually.
