Lahore, January 5, 2026: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced the second qualified bidder for the upcoming auction of two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams, ahead of the league’s 11th edition. The auction is set for Thursday at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, with the tournament scheduled from March 26 to May 3.

In a social media post, the PSL confirmed OZ Group of Companies as Bidder No.2 out of 10, joining Inverex Solar Energy, which had earlier been confirmed as Bidder No.1. “Another name added to the list. [OZ Group] of Companies confirmed as Bidder [No. 2] for the HBL PSL Teams Auction,” the PSL wrote online.

The league is expanding from six to eight teams, with the PCB completing technical evaluations of proposals submitted by interested groups. Among the confirmed bidders is the Tareen Group, led by businessman Ali Khan Tareen, former owner of the Multan Sultans. Tareen had acquired the franchise in 2018, guiding it to the 2021 PSL title and multiple finals.

However, relations between Tareen and the PCB soured over renewal terms and governance issues, leading to his exit from the Multan Sultans at the end of 2025. This made him eligible to bid for one of the new franchises. Other bidders include Karachi-based VGO TEL, led by CEO Naveed Gaba, which has formally joined the race.

Successful bidders will later select a home city from the PCB-approved list, which includes Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit, ahead of the historic expansion of the PSL.
