UGOOD delegation calls on convenor PCCR

Islamabad, 8th January 2026; A meeting between the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR) and United Global Organization of Development (UGOOD) was held on Thursday, the 8th January 2026, at the Parliament House to deliberate on key child protection challenges in Pakistan.

The meeting was chaired by Honorable MNA Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, Convener of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights. The delegation from UGOOD comprised Syed Ishtiaq Gilani and Ms. Mehwish Kayani. Officials of the National Assembly Secretariat, Syed Hazik Bukhari and Ms. Iffat Parvez, were also present at the meeting.

During the meeting, participants engaged in in-depth and substantive discussions on critical issues affecting children, including child safeguarding mechanisms, juvenile justice reforms, corporal punishment, and child begging. The deliberations emphasized the need for strengthened legal frameworks, effective implementation of existing laws, and enhanced coordination between parliamentary forums and civil society organizations to safeguard children’s rights.

Convener PCCR, Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan underscored PCCR’s commitment to advancing child protection through evidence-based policy engagement and collaborative action with relevant stakeholders. The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to continue constructive engagement and explore practical avenues for cooperation to address the multifaceted challenges confronting children in Pakistan.
