NA Speaker meets Australian HC, discusses bilateral cooperation

Islamabad, January 14, 2026: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, on Tuesday met Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Mr. Timothy Kane at the Parliament House, where the two sides discussed bilateral relations, as well as regional and global issues, and explored ways to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Australia.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to further strengthen friendly ties and expand collaboration across various sectors. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reiterated his commitment to consolidating the longstanding cordial relations between the two countries, emphasizing that parliamentary diplomacy can play a vital role in strengthening bilateral engagement.

Highlighting investment opportunities in Pakistan, the National Assembly Speaker said the country offers significant prospects in several economic sectors, particularly livestock and mining. He noted that Pakistan is rich in mineral resources, which have attracted growing interest from investors around the world. He also pointed out that the Pakistan-Australia Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly continues to actively promote inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Australian High Commissioner Mr. Timothy Kane praised the Pakistani nation as resilient and hospitable, and acknowledged the valuable contribution of the Pakistani expatriate community to Australia’s development. He expressed keen interest in Australian investment in Pakistan’s mining sector and reaffirmed Australia’s strong commitment to its longstanding and friendly relations with Pakistan.

The High Commissioner also appreciated Pakistan’s democratic system and the important role played by its parliamentary institutions.
