Islamabad, January 15, 2026: Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, Mr. Rongvudhi Virabutr, on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the Parliament House in Islamabad.

During the meeting, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said Pakistan attaches great importance to its longstanding, friendly, and cordial relations with Thailand. He expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathy over the loss of precious human lives caused by the recent sea storm in Thailand.

Highlighting Pakistan’s rich religious and cultural heritage, the Speaker said the country is a cradle of diverse civilizations, cultures, and religions. He noted that every year a large number of Buddhist, Sikh, and followers of other faiths visit Pakistan to pay homage at their sacred sites. He added that Pakistan hosts several important archaeological sites of the Gandhara civilization, which hold significant potential for promoting religious and cultural tourism.

The Speaker also emphasized that climate change is a global and shared challenge, calling for collective and coordinated international efforts to mitigate its impacts. He further stated that Pakistan is providing equal opportunities to women in all spheres of life, noting that the Women Parliamentary Caucus in the National Assembly is playing an active role in safeguarding women’s rights, welfare, and protection.

Underscoring the need to further enhance bilateral cooperation, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stressed that exchanges of parliamentary delegations would promote greater harmony and collaboration between lawmakers of both countries. He also highlighted the role of the Pakistan–Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly in strengthening inter-parliamentary relations.

Ambassador Rongvudhi Virabutr welcomed the Speaker’s proposals to promote parliamentary ties and described Pakistan as an important country in the region. He said Thailand values its relations with Pakistan and expressed keen interest in social development projects in the country, noting that several initiatives are currently underway with Thai cooperation.

The Thai Ambassador also emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in economic, social, and other sectors, reaffirming Thailand’s desire to further strengthen collaboration with Pakistan across multiple areas.
