Islamabad, January 23, 2026: Former Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Zahid Iqbal Chaudhry, has congratulated the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) on the successful organization of a two-day international conference and exhibition in Karachi aimed at promoting sustainable tourism.

The event was held under the auspices of the ICCD in collaboration with FPCCI, AlBaraka Bank, and the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC). Zahid Iqbal Chaudhry said the primary objective of the forum was to promote economic development through sustainable tourism, strengthen international cooperation, and create new avenues for investment and partnerships in the tourism sector, both in Pakistan and across the Islamic world.

Commending the organizers, he noted that the initiative not only showcased Pakistan’s vast tourism potential but also emphasized sustainable and community-based tourism models. He said such approaches could help boost regional economies and generate employment opportunities. Expressing optimism, he added that the conference would help establish strong linkages among the private sectors of the 57 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and effectively project Pakistan as a sustainable tourism destination globally.

Zahid Iqbal Chaudhry further observed that the forum, which brought together intellectuals, experts, government officials, and business representatives from Muslim countries, addressed key themes including medical tourism, heritage management, halal tourism, the use of technology in tourism, and environmental impacts. He said the discussions would serve as an important milestone in deepening cooperation among OIC member states and in positioning Pakistan as a prominent destination on the international tourism map.
