Islamabad, February 5, 2026: The Government and people of Pakistan are observing Kashmir Solidarity Day, reaffirming their commitment to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri people in their struggle for the realization of the right to self-determination, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday.

In special messages issued on the occasion, the President, the Prime Minister, and the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmir cause, pledging to continue advocating for the rights of Kashmiris at international forums.

The Foreign Office stated that the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister had written letters to the President of the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly, the UN Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), drawing urgent attention to the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Emphasizing the implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, he called for a free, fair, and impartial plebiscite under UN auspices to determine the will of the Kashmiri people. He also urged the UN and OIC leadership to play an effective role in addressing what was described as an alarming human rights situation in the region.

Ahead of Kashmir Solidarity Day, the ministry organized a comprehensive briefing for Islamabad-based diplomats to apprise them of the prevailing situation and reported human rights concerns in IIOJK.

Earlier in the day, officers and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated in a Solidarity Day Walk on Jinnah Avenue, demonstrating unity and support for the Kashmiri cause.

According to the ministry, a wide range of activities—including seminars, webinars, public rallies, and photo exhibitions—are being organized at Pakistan’s diplomatic missions worldwide to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people and highlight ongoing human rights issues in the territory.
