Islamabad, February 18, 2026: Dr. Oumer Hussein Oba, Ambassador of the Ethiopia, paid a courtesy call on Umer Siddique, Director General (United Nations) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed avenues for strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, with a focus on achieving shared goals of prosperity and sustainable development.

The discussion highlighted the historical contributions of both Ethiopia and Pakistan to international peacekeeping efforts, reaffirming their shared commitment to global peace and security.

Ambassador Dr. Oba briefed the Director General on Ethiopia’s proactive role in revitalising multilateralism, underscoring the strategic importance of Addis Ababa hosting major international gatherings, including the 39th African Union Summit and the Second Italy–Africa Summit earlier this month.

He noted that Ethiopia’s selection as host for COP32 reflects the country’s growing leadership in global climate resilience and green development initiatives. The Ambassador also shared details of Ethiopia’s efforts toward regional integration and maintaining peace and security in the Horn of Africa.

Director General Umer Siddique expressed appreciation for Ethiopia’s leading role in multilateral diplomacy, particularly its contributions to advancing sustainable development objectives across the Global South.
