The Hague, February 18, 2026: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Syed Haider Shah, held a productive meeting with Machiko Kanetake, Chairperson of the Executive Board and Academic Director, and Kaspar, Managing Director of the Asser Institute, at the Embassy.

During the meeting, Ambassador Shah appreciated the Asser Institute’s significant contributions to the development of international law and discussed possibilities for establishing institutional linkages with relevant Pakistani think tanks and judicial academies. He also explored opportunities for capacity building and professional training of Pakistani judicial officers in various facets of international law.

The discussions further covered the evolving paradigm of strategic litigation, the relationship between modern technologies and international law, and emerging developments related to climate change and global legal frameworks.

Both sides agreed to remain in close contact and to promote cooperation and collaboration in areas of mutual interest, with a view to strengthening academic, legal, and institutional engagement between Pakistan and the Netherlands.
