Rawalpindi, February 23, 2026: Security forces on Sunday conducted an intelligence-based operation in Pishin District, following reports about the presence of militants affiliated with the Indian-backed group Fitna al Khwarij, official sources said.
During the operation, troops effectively engaged the militant network using multiple weapons. Following a fierce exchange of fire, one suicide bomber detonated himself, while four other militants were neutralised.
Security personnel also recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives from the site. According to officials, the militants had been actively involved in several terrorist activities in the area.
Subsequently, sanitisation operations were launched to clear the surrounding areas and ensure the elimination of any remaining threats.
The military said its counterterrorism campaign would continue under the national vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee as part of the National Action Plan. The campaign aims to eradicate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
Security forces and law enforcement agencies reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and stability across Pakistan, officials added.
