Doha, October 31, 2024 – Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani in Doha on Thursday to discuss regional and global issues and explore ways to deepen bilateral relations. Their discussions centered on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and cultural exchange.

PM Shehbaz, during the visit, expressed optimism that stronger ties with Qatar would bring mutual benefits and reaffirmed the deep bond of friendship and respect between the two countries. Sheikh Al-Thani highlighted Pakistan’s strategic significance in the region and shared Qatar’s vision of bolstering economic growth and regional stability through closer ties.

The leaders agreed on the importance of continued high-level engagements to promote mutual understanding and identify new avenues for collaboration.

Upon his arrival in Doha, PM Shehbaz was welcomed by Qatari Minister of State Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi and Pakistan’s ambassador to Qatar. In a message posted on X, he expressed eagerness for “a productive exchange” with the Qatari leadership.

The visit includes meetings with the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and Qatar Businessmen Association (QBA) to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan. PM Shehbaz will also inaugurate a cultural exhibition titled “Manzar: Art and Architecture in Pakistan from 1940 to Present” showcasing Pakistan’s heritage and strengthening people-to-people connections between the two nations.

Sources indicate that PM Shehbaz is likely to discuss adjustments to Pakistan’s LNG imports from Qatar, attract investments in the energy sector, and promote opportunities in upcoming privatization initiatives.
