Islamabad, March 3, 2026: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani met with the President of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited, Tahir Yaqoob Bhatti, at Parliament House to review the state of Pakistan’s agricultural sector and ongoing initiatives to support farmers nationwide.

During the meeting, both leaders held detailed discussions on the challenges faced by farmers and strategies to promote agricultural development. Bhatti briefed the Chairman Senate on the bank’s loan programs, highlighting financial facilities offered on easy terms, relief packages, and timely support for essential agricultural inputs, including seeds, fertilizers, and machinery.

Bhatti also outlined initiatives targeting small-scale farmers and medium-sized landowners, emphasizing loans with easy installments, reduced markup rates, and transparent procedures to ensure broader access. These programs are designed to directly enhance productivity and strengthen the overall agricultural sector.

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani praised the bank’s efforts, underscoring that agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy and that relief for farmers remains a national priority. He reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to supporting farmer-friendly policies and initiatives aimed at fostering rural development and food security.

Gilani stressed the importance of maximizing support for deserving farmers to ease financial hardships. He called for the loan disbursement process to be simplified, transparent, and easily accessible to common farmers to ensure meaningful growth in agriculture and rural prosperity.

The meeting highlighted the pivotal role of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited in promoting agricultural prosperity, empowering farmers financially, and contributing significantly to Pakistan’s national progress.
