Rawalpindi, March 7, 2026: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir visited the Saudi Arabia and held a meeting with the Kingdom’s Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman to discuss the evolving regional security situation, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on the serious security challenges arising from recent Iranian drone and missile attacks on Saudi Arabia and the joint measures required to address the situation within the framework of the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement between the two countries.

Both sides emphasized that unprovoked aggression undermines efforts aimed at maintaining regional peace and stability and reduces the prospects for the peaceful resolution of disputes.

During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed broader regional security dynamics and reiterated the importance of collective efforts to prevent escalation in the region.

The Pakistani army chief and the Saudi defence minister expressed hope that Iran would demonstrate prudence and restraint to avoid any miscalculation and support initiatives being pursued by friendly countries seeking a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia maintain close defence and strategic ties and regularly coordinate on regional security and stability.
