HONG KONG: Pakistan defeated South Africa in the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Sixes 2024-25 to qualify for the semi-finals.

With outstanding performance from Mohammad Akhlaq and Hussain Talat with bat, Pakistan set a challenging target of 106 runs. Akhlaq scored an explosive 53 runs off just 16 balls, while Talat contributed 27 runs off 11 balls, powering Pakistan to a formidable total.

South Arfica failed to acquire the required run rate and fell short with only 88 runs on board. Good bowling and fielding efforts of Pakistan restricted the South African team, sealing their spot in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Earlier, Pakistan had defeated India by six wickets and achieved the target in five overs without any losses with Asif Ali’s brilliant innings of 55 runs.

In a thrilling contest at the Hong Kong Super Sixes, India set a challenging target of 120 runs for Pakistan to chase in six overs.

India posted a strong total of 119 for the loss of two wickets, with standout performances from Ruben Uthappa and Chipley. Uthappa contributed a solid 31 runs, while Chipley led the charge with an explosive 53 runs.

Pakistan’s Faheem Ashraf was the key bowler for his side, taking both of India’s wickets.

Pakistan faced the daunting task of scoring 120 runs to clinch the win in this high-energy format, with fans eagerly awaiting the outcome in this intense showdown between the two cricketing giants.
