Tehran, March 10, 2026: Authorities in Iran have issued a statement regarding members of the national women’s football team after five players were granted humanitarian visas to remain in Australia.

In a statement, the prosecutor-general’s office said the players had acted under “emotional imbalance” and stressed that they would be welcomed back if they chose to return to their homeland.

“Some members of our hardworking women’s soccer team, who are children of this soil, have unintentionally and under emotional imbalance provoked by the enemy’s conspiracies, behaved in a way that caused the delusional excitement of U.S.-Israeli criminal leaders,” the statement said.

The authorities added that the government and people of Iran remained supportive of the athletes and invited them to return.

“Since the loving embrace of the authorities and the noble people of Islamic Iran are open to these children and understand their special circumstances, these cherished individuals are invited to return to their homeland with peace and confidence,” the statement added.

According to reports, the players who sought asylum in Australia are in their 20s and 30s.

The development has drawn international attention amid ongoing political tensions in the region and debates over athletes seeking asylum abroad.
