Iran warns UAE over US bases after Kharg Island strike; regional tensions escalate

Tehran/Dubai, March 15, 2026: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned the United Arab Emirates that American military installations on its territory could become “legitimate targets” following a reported US strike on Kharg Island, a key Iranian oil export hub.

According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the IRGC issued a statement saying that after the US attack on Kharg Island, locations from where American missiles were launched—including ports, docks and US military bases in parts of the UAE—may be targeted as part of Iran’s right to defend its sovereignty.

Iranian authorities also warned residents near ports, docks and US military facilities in the UAE to avoid those areas to reduce the risk of possible damage.

Despite reports of the bombing, Iranian media said oil installations on Kharg Island remained safe. Earlier, US President Donald Trump claimed American forces had carried out one of the most powerful strikes in Middle East history, targeting Iranian military objectives on the island.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump said every military target on what he described as Iran’s “crown jewel” had been completely destroyed, adding that US weapons used in the operation were among the most powerful and advanced.

Iranian officials, however, rejected the claim, saying key oil infrastructure was unharmed and warning that American bases in the region would now face intensified attacks.

Iranian commander killed in Israeli strike

Separately, the Iranian military confirmed that Brigadier General Abdollah Jalali was killed in an Israeli attack during the ongoing conflict. Officials said he was leading defensive operations when he was killed.

Iranian authorities said several senior commanders and security officials had died since the beginning of the conflict, but insisted the country’s defensive capabilities and retaliatory operations remained intact.

IRGC claims attacks on US bases in region

Iran also claimed to have launched a new wave of attacks against US military bases in the region, including installations in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, as well as targeting radar systems across the Middle East.

The IRGC also issued a strongly worded threat against Benjamin Netanyahu, saying it would pursue the Israeli prime minister and attempt to eliminate him if he remained alive.

According to Al Jazeera and Iran’s Mehr News Agency, the statement comes amid intensifying tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States, with military and political pressures increasing across the region.

Israel claims strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon

Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had carried out strikes against infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

According to the Israeli military, its forces targeted rocket launch sites in the Qatrani area on Saturday. The IDF also claimed to have struck command centres linked to Hezbollah’s Radwan Force in Beirut.

The developments highlight rapidly escalating tensions across the Middle East as hostilities involving Iran, Israel and the United States continue to intensify.
