Islamabad, March 18, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held separate telephone conversations on Wednesday with Sheikh Sabah Al Khaled and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, exchanging warm Eidul Fitr greetings and discussing regional developments.
During the call with the Kuwaiti Crown Prince, PM Shehbaz conveyed wishes for “peace, prosperity, and well-being” for the people of both countries and the wider Muslim Ummah. He also expressed his “good wishes and respect” for the Amir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of recent attacks in Kuwait, expressing “deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives” and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured, while underscoring Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of Kuwait.
In his conversation with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, PM Shehbaz conveyed condolences for the victims of recent attacks and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Oman during this challenging period. Both leaders highlighted the importance of regional peace, stability, and dialogue, and extended invitations for official visits to strengthen bilateral relations.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that Pakistan is ready to play a pivotal role in mediating regional tensions following the United States and Israel’s attacks on Iran. Speaking to Al Jazeera, he emphasized Pakistan’s longstanding ties in the region and its commitment to de-escalating conflicts.
Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will visit Riyadh on March 18–19 to attend a regional foreign ministers’ meeting. Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated that Dar will reaffirm the country’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all regional states, call for an immediate cessation of attacks, and advocate for renewed dialogue and diplomacy.
The visit follows PM Shehbaz’s earlier trip to Riyadh on March 12, where he held detailed discussions on the regional situation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
