Islamabad, April 2,2026: International Children’s Book Day, celebrated each year on April 2, highlights the joy of reading and the importance of children’s literature in shaping young minds.

Sweden has a proud and enduring tradition of children’s literature, with stories that inspire imagination, independence, and creativity across generations.

One of the most beloved characters is Pippi Longstocking, created by Astrid Lindgren is a symbol of courage, curiosity, and unconventional thinking.

This spirit has also found its way to Pakistan. In 2021, as part of a reading initiative supported by UNESCO, the Swedish Embassy in Islamabad, and Volvo, Pippi made her debut in Urdu through Pippi Ki Kahani.

From Sweden to Pakistan, stories continue to build bridges and nurturing imagination, language, and a shared love for reading among children everywhere.
