Pakistan, Canada stress dialogue and de-escalation amid regional tensions

Islamabad, April 6, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Canada, Anita Anand, to discuss the evolving regional situation and the urgent need for de-escalation.

During the call, both leaders emphasized the critical role of dialogue and diplomacy in promoting peace and stability across the region. Senator Ishaq Dar highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to facilitate constructive engagement and foster a secure and stable environment.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Pakistan-Canada bilateral relations, underscored the importance of sustained high-level exchanges, and agreed to maintain close contact to coordinate on regional developments.

The discussion reflects Pakistan’s active engagement in international diplomacy aimed at conflict resolution and promoting regional stability.
