Islamabad, April 7, 2026: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday underscored the need for timely redressal of public complaints and further strengthening of institutional mechanisms during a meeting with Federal Ombudsman Naveed Kamran Baloch at Parliament House.

The meeting, held as a goodwill visit following Mr. Baloch’s assumption of office, focused on improving administrative justice and enhancing the efficiency of systems addressing citizens’ grievances.

During the briefing, the Federal Ombudsman informed the Chairman that the institution handled over 262,000 complaints related to maladministration in 2025, achieving compliance on approximately 97 percent of its decisions. He highlighted that, through an extensive nationwide network, the Ombudsman’s office is delivering prompt, affordable, and effective justice at the grassroots level.

Mr. Baloch also shared plans to introduce a modern online complaint management portal aimed at ensuring resolution within 60 days. He noted that special emphasis is being placed on addressing issues faced by the middle class, alongside initiatives such as open courts and outreach hearings in remote areas to provide immediate relief.

Emphasizing that swift resolution of public grievances remains a top priority, the Ombudsman said further measures are being taken to strengthen a transparent, efficient, and responsive system to tackle government inefficiencies.

Chairman Senate Gilani appreciated the institution’s performance and expressed confidence that under Mr. Baloch’s leadership, the Ombudsman’s office would continue to enhance service delivery and public relief. He described the ongoing reforms as a significant step toward promoting good governance, transparency, and citizen-centric public service.

The Chairman also extended his best wishes to Mr. Baloch for success in his new role. In response, the Federal Ombudsman lauded Mr. Gilani’s political and public service contributions, acknowledging his role in strengthening democratic institutions in Pakistan.

The meeting concluded in a cordial atmosphere, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to enhanced cooperation for improved public service delivery.
