Islamabad, April 8,2026: President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Tahir Mehmood, has highly commended the country’s civil and military leadership for their visionary and proactive diplomacy in successfully facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, calling it a historic achievement that has helped avert a potentially devastating regional conflict.

He specifically lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar for their tireless diplomatic engagement and coordinated efforts, which played a crucial role in de-escalating tensions and bringing both sides to the negotiating table.

Sardar Tahir Mehmood stated that Pakistan’s timely and balanced intervention at a critical juncture reflects the country’s growing stature as a responsible global player and a credible mediator in international conflicts. He emphasized that such efforts not only promote peace but also strengthen Pakistan’s diplomatic standing and open avenues for enhanced economic cooperation.

He further noted that the easing of tensions in the Gulf region would have a positive impact on global energy markets and investor confidence, which is vital for economic stability in developing countries like Pakistan. He expressed optimism that continued dialogue would lead to a sustainable and long-term peace arrangement.

Sardar Tahir Mehmood reiterated that the business community of Pakistan stands firmly behind the country’s leadership in promoting peace, stability, and economic progress. He concluded that Pakistan’s role in this critical diplomatic breakthrough is a testament to its commitment to global harmony and constructive engagement.

Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub, while appreciating the leadership’s efforts, remarked that Pakistan has once again demonstrated its ability to play a constructive role in global peace-building. He stated that the successful ceasefire would significantly reduce uncertainty in international markets, providing much-needed relief to businesses and industries that were concerned about supply chain disruptions and rising energy costs. He added that such diplomatic successes enhance investor confidence and create a favorable environment for trade and investment.

Vice President, Irfan Chaudhry, also lauded the initiative and termed it a proud moment for the nation. He said that Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between major global players reflects its diplomatic maturity and strategic importance. He emphasized that peace in the Middle East is directly linked to economic stability in Pakistan, and this development would contribute positively to the country’s economic outlook by stabilizing oil prices and improving regional connectivity prospects.
