Bucharest, April 10,2026: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Romania Ilyas Nizami held a meeting with State Secretary for Religious Affairs, Mr. Ciprian-Vasile Olinici. The two held a wide-ranging discussion, marked by cordiality and mutual understanding.
Amongst other topics, the State Secretary apprised the Ambassador of the role and activities of his office, which also cover Romania’s Muslim community. On the other hand, the Ambassador briefed the Secretary on the Government of Pakistan’s policy of promoting inter-faith harmony, and protecting the rights of minorities.
In that connection, the Ambassador especially referred to a UN General Assembly resolution on promotion of inter-religious and inter-cultural dialogue that Pakistan annually tables along with other like-minded countries. While extending his sincere greetings for the forthcoming Easter, the Ambassador presented to the State Secretary a book on the Churches of Pakistan. The different ideas to promote linkages between the respective institutions of Pakistan and Romania were also discussed during the meeting.
