Islamabad, April 11, 2026: As the Islamabad Talks commenced today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a high-level meeting with JD Vance, marking a significant step toward promoting peace and stability in the region.
The U.S. Vice President was accompanied by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and senior advisor Jared Kushner. On the Pakistani side, the Prime Minister was assisted by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Islamabad Talks, which aim to promote dialogue and de-escalation in the region. Commending the constructive engagement of both delegations, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed optimism that the talks would serve as a stepping stone toward durable and sustainable peace.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating dialogue between the concerned parties, emphasizing the country’s proactive and responsible diplomatic role in advancing regional stability.
The discussions underscored Pakistan’s continued efforts to support peaceful conflict resolution through diplomacy and cooperation, reinforcing its position as a key advocate for peace and dialogue on the global stage.
