Islamabad, April 13, 2026: The Ambassador of Sweden to Pakistan expressed delight upon meeting legendary Swedish humanitarian Wenny Lekardal during one of her recurrent visits to the country, celebrating her decades-long service to vulnerable communities.

Affectionately known as “Sister Wenny,” Lekardal dedicated 38 years to providing life-saving healthcare to underserved populations in Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Taxila. Her tireless efforts significantly improved access to medical services, earning her deep respect and admiration across Pakistan.

In recognition of her extraordinary humanitarian contributions, she became the first Swedish national to receive the prestigious Pride of Performance—one of Pakistan’s highest civilian honors.

Her enduring legacy stands as a powerful symbol of compassion, service, and cross-cultural solidarity. Observers noted that Wenny Lekardal’s remarkable journey reflects the strength of people-to-people ties and highlights the enduring friendship between Sweden and Pakistan.

The meeting served as a reminder of the profound impact of humanitarian work in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
