The Hague, April 13, 2026: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Netherlands Syed Haider Shah met with Secretary General of the The Hague Academy of International Law, Professor Jean-Marc Thouvenin, at the historic Peace Palace in The Hague.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed ongoing cooperation and regular academic exchanges between the Pakistani Embassy and the Academy, which have facilitated engagement in the field of international legal education.
Ambassador Shah also explored opportunities to further strengthen institutional collaboration, particularly by enhancing linkages with Pakistan’s relevant legal and academic institutions. He emphasized the importance of expanding academic exchanges to promote greater understanding of international law and legal practice.
The Secretary General appreciated the Embassy’s continued support in hosting students participating in the Academy’s winter and summer courses on public and private international law. He also provided an overview of the Academy’s global partnerships and ongoing cooperation with various countries and regional organizations.
Both sides exchanged views on expanding cooperation in diverse areas of international law, reaffirming their shared interest in strengthening academic and institutional ties.
Officials noted that the Pakistani Embassy in The Hague regularly hosts visiting cohorts of international law students, contributing to people-to-people connections and advancing legal scholarship between Pakistan and the global legal community.
