Islamabad, April 20, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday held a telephone conversation with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, focusing on ongoing diplomatic efforts and regional developments.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senator Wong appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States. She also commended Islamabad’s continued commitment to promoting diplomatic engagement amid heightened tensions.

During the conversation, Dar briefed his Australian counterpart on the recent Islamabad Talks held on April 11–12, reiterating Pakistan’s resolve to encourage dialogue and pursue peaceful solutions through sustained engagement.

Both leaders expressed concern over the wider economic implications of the ongoing situation, particularly for developing countries, and underscored the importance of resolving conflicts through peaceful and diplomatic means.

The discussion reflects growing international attention on Pakistan’s mediatory role as efforts continue to ease tensions between Washington and Tehran.
