Islamabad, April 29, 2026: Acting President of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has paid profound tribute to the martyrs of the nation on Youm-e-Shuhada, stating that Pakistan’s peace, security, and democratic continuity stand firmly on the sacrifices of its brave sons and daughters.

In his message, the Acting President emphasized that the sacrifices rendered in the fight against terrorism and in defense of the homeland are not abstract ideals, but a living reality for the nation. “From the battlefields to our streets and cities, our martyrs have laid down their lives so that Pakistan may endure with dignity and resolve,” he stated.

He said that the resilience demonstrated by the Armed Forces, Police, and Law Enforcement Agencies has decisively strengthened the writ of the state, pushing back the forces of extremism and instability. “Our martyrs did not merely defend territory—they defended the idea of Pakistan, its constitutional order, and the right of its people to live in peace,” he added.

Paying homage to the families of the Shuhada, the Acting President acknowledged their unparalleled strength and sacrifice. “The nation shares the grief of every bereaved family and remains committed to honoring their sacrifice not just in words, but through unwavering national resolve and unity,” he remarked.

The Acting President further stated that Youm-e-Shuhada is not only a day of remembrance, but a moment of national reaffirmation. “We must carry forward the trust of our martyrs by strengthening our institutions, upholding the rule of law, and remaining united against all forces that threaten our stability,” he said.

He concluded by praying for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and reiterated that their sacrifices will forever remain the cornerstone of Pakistan’s strength and resilience.
