Business community’s unity vital for economic growth: ICCI President

Islamabad, May 7,2026: A delegation of the Traders Welfare Association (TWA) G-11 Markaz, Islamabad, headed by its President Naeem Akhtar Awan, visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) here on Thursday. Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by ICCI office bearers and executive members.

Addressing the gathering, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sardar Tahir Mehmood said that traders are the backbone of the national economy and the business community of G-11 Markaz has been playing an important role in promoting commercial activities in the federal capital. He assured the delegation that ICCI would continue to raise the genuine issues of traders at every relevant forum and would extend full cooperation for resolving their problems on priority basis. He stressed the need for greater unity among traders to effectively address common challenges and promote a conducive business environment.

President TWA G-11 Markaz Naeem Akhtar Awan highlighted the challenges confronting the trader community in the area, including parking shortages, encroachments, infrastructure issues, security concerns, and increasing business costs. He urged the concerned authorities to take immediate measures for resolving these longstanding issues to facilitate smooth business operations and provide relief to traders and customers alike.

Senior Vice President ICCI Tahir Ayub said that ICCI firmly believes in protecting the rights of traders and would continue to play its due role for strengthening markets and commercial centers across Islamabad. He emphasized that close coordination between trade bodies and ICCI is vital for addressing the concerns of the business community in an effective manner.

Former President ICCI and Secretary General United Business Group Zafar Bakhtawari said that markets flourish when traders remain united and proactive. He termed traders as the driving force of economic activity and stressed the importance of creating a business-friendly atmosphere to accelerate economic growth and investment.

Group Leader TWA G-11 and ICCI Executive Member Chaudhry Aftab Gujjar said that traders of G-11 Markaz are committed to working collectively for the betterment of the market and appreciated ICCI for extending support to the trader community.

Chairman TWA G-11 Sardar Asim and General Secretary Jawad Gujjar also spoke on the occasion and highlighted various matters related to civic facilities, cleanliness, traffic management, and market development, while stressing the need for prompt attention by the relevant departments.

In his vote of thanks, ICCI Vice President Mohammad Irfan Chaudhry thanked the delegation for visiting the Chamber and reaffirmed ICCI’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of traders and businessmen. The event was conducted by former Senior Vice President Khalid Mehmood Chaudhry.

Those present on the occasion also included ICCI Executive Members Ishaq Sial, Zulqurnain Abbasi, Raja Naveed Satti, former SVP Naveed Malik, ICCI senior member Israr Mishwani, TWA Vice Presidents Qasim Shah, Mubashir Warrich and others.
