Lahore, May 8, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has stressed the importance of transparency, accountability, and robust financial governance for achieving sustainable economic growth and strengthening investor confidence in Pakistan.
Addressing the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) Conference in Lahore as the chief guest, Senator Dar congratulated the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA Pakistan) on completing 75 years of excellence in advancing the accounting and finance profession and contributing to institutional development in the country.
In his keynote address, the deputy prime minister underscored the transformative role of digital technologies in reshaping the accounting profession, emphasizing the need for institutions and professionals to adapt to rapidly evolving global trends and technological advancements.
Highlighting Pakistan’s economic outlook, Dar said strategic reforms, regional connectivity, fiscal discipline, and institutional strengthening were positioning the country as a resilient and sustainable economy with significant growth potential.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting regional peace, stability, dialogue, and economic cooperation, noting that collaboration among South Asian nations remained essential for shared prosperity and development.
The foreign minister further emphasized the importance of regional cooperation through the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), while calling for greater youth empowerment and continued reforms aimed at improving efficiency, accountability, sustainable development, and inclusive economic progress.
The conference brought together accounting and finance professionals, policymakers, and industry leaders from across the region to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in the financial sector.
