Beijing, May 12, 2026: China on Tuesday once again reiterated its firm opposition to United States arms sales to Taiwan, stressing that Beijing’s position on the issue remains “consistent and clear.”

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun responded to a question regarding China-US relations and the Taiwan issue.

Guo stated that Beijing strongly opposes military support and weapons sales by the United States to Taiwan, which China considers part of its territory.

The spokesperson also confirmed that US President Donald Trump will pay a state visit to China from May 13 to 15.

“During the visit, the two heads of state will have an in-depth exchange of views on major issues concerning China-US relations and world peace and development,” Guo said.

The Taiwan issue remains one of the most sensitive matters in relations between Beijing and Washington, with China repeatedly urging the United States to adhere to the One-China principle and stop arms sales and official exchanges with Taiwan.
