Islamabad, May 12, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation on Tuesday with Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi, during which both sides exchanged detailed views on regional developments and bilateral cooperation.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders discussed Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to facilitate engagement between Iran and the United States aimed at promoting peace, stability, and diplomatic dialogue in the region.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi appreciated Pakistan’s constructive mediation role and expressed support for its diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions.
Both sides also emphasized the importance of maintaining a durable ceasefire in the region and ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted flow of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy shipping route.
The two foreign ministers further discussed preparations for upcoming high-level exchanges and activities marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
They also reviewed broader bilateral cooperation across political, economic, and multilateral platforms.
Both sides agreed to remain in close contact and continue coordination on all matters of mutual interest.
