Islamabad, May 12, 2026: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence on Tuesday congratulated the nation and the Armed Forces on the commemoration of the historic victories of Marka-e-Haq and Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, stating that the achievements strengthened Pakistan’s defence credentials and elevated its international standing.
The committee met at Parliament House under the chairmanship of Fateh Ullah Khan.
During the session, members praised the courage, resilience, and strategic capabilities demonstrated by Pakistan’s Armed Forces, describing the victories as enduring symbols of the military’s commitment to protecting national sovereignty and dignity.
The committee also commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their role in facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran.
According to the committee, Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement helped avert the possibility of a broader global conflict and contributed to regional and international peace and stability.
The committee paid tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan’s Armed Forces, acknowledging their sacrifices in defence of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Special prayers were also offered for the families of the martyrs.
After detailed deliberations, the committee unanimously recommended that the National Assembly pass “The Pakistan Airports Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2026.”
The committee stated that the proposed legislation would help modernize Pakistan’s aviation infrastructure, improve regulatory oversight, and support economic growth and global connectivity.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Ibrar Ahmad, Daniyal Ahmed, Saba Sadiq, Sharmila Faruqui, Sanjay Parwani, Gul Asghar Khan, Muhammad Ijaz ul Haq and Raja Osama Sarwar, along with senior officials from the ministries of Defence, Planning and Development, and Finance.
