Islamabad, May 13, 2026: Adviser to the Chairman Senate of Pakistan and Ambassador of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), Misbah Khar met Senator Kutbiddin Burkhavanova in Uzbekistan to discuss ways to enhance bilateral parliamentary cooperation, regional connectivity, trade, and cultural exchanges between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

Ms. Misbah Khar is currently visiting Uzbekistan at the invitation of the Uzbek Senate to participate in the Second Asian Women’s Forum.

During the meeting, she conveyed warm greetings on behalf of the Senate of Pakistan and Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani. She noted that Pakistan and Uzbekistan share deep historical, cultural, and spiritual ties rooted in centuries of interaction through the Silk Route, which continue to strengthen through growing parliamentary engagement.

Highlighting the role of Parliamentary Friendship Groups in promoting mutual understanding, Ms. Khar recalled the virtual meeting of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group held in November 2025, which helped advance bilateral parliamentary cooperation.

She also underlined the significance of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), founded under the leadership of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, as an important platform for promoting parliamentary diplomacy, peace, and inclusive development. She appreciated Uzbekistan’s active participation in the inaugural ISC Conference held in Islamabad in November 2025.

The two sides discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, education, culture, information technology, agriculture, and regional connectivity. They also emphasized closer collaboration within regional organizations, including the Economic Cooperation Organization, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Uzbekistan, Ms. Misbah Khar expressed confidence that enhanced parliamentary engagement and people-to-people contacts would contribute to regional peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
