Islamabad, May 14,2026: President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sardar Tahir Mehmood has emphasized the need for comprehensive regulatory reforms to improve the ease of doing business, remove procedural hurdles, and accelerate economic activity in Pakistan.
Speaking to visiting businessmen at the Chamber House on Thursday, Sardar Tahir Mehmood said that complicated regulations, excessive documentation, delayed approvals, and poor coordination among government departments were creating serious challenges for the business community.
He stressed that simplifying business procedures, ensuring policy consistency, and promoting digital governance were essential steps to restore investor confidence and facilitate commercial activity.
The ICCI president observed that unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles increase the cost of doing business and discourage both local and foreign investment. He urged the government to introduce business-friendly reforms, strengthen one-window operations, and abolish outdated regulations to create a more competitive and investment-friendly economic environment.
Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub said the private sector could play a stronger role in economic growth if provided with a transparent and efficient regulatory framework.
He highlighted the importance of reducing unnecessary inspections, expanding the tax net, and ensuring prompt resolution of business-related issues.
Vice President Muhammad Irfan Chaudhry said that ease of doing business had become a major factor globally in attracting investment and promoting industrial growth.
He stressed that Pakistan must adopt modern regulatory practices and encourage digitization to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
The ICCI leadership reaffirmed that the business community was ready to cooperate with the government in promoting reforms aimed at boosting investment, entrepreneurship, exports, and sustainable economic development in the country.
