Islamabad, May 17, 2026: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Sunday expressed deep grief over the demise of veteran journalist, writer and founder of Urdu Digest, Altaf Hassan Qureshi.

In a statement issued by the National Assembly Secretariat’s Directorate General of Media, the speaker paid rich tribute to the late journalist for his remarkable contributions to journalism, literature and national intellectual discourse.

Ayaz Sadiq said the services rendered by Altaf Hussain Qureshi for journalism, literature and the promotion of national consciousness would always be remembered.

He said the late writer, through his principled journalism and intellectual guidance, inspired and mentored several generations of journalists and intellectuals.

“With his passing, the world of journalism and academia has lost a wise and visionary personality,” the speaker remarked. The NA speaker further stated that Altaf Hussain Qureshi’s journalistic, literary and intellectual contributions would continue to be remembered for years to come.

Expressing heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, Ayaz Sadiq said he equally shared the grief of the mourning family during this difficult time.
