Islamabad, May 18, 2026: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Monday, where both sides held wide-ranging discussions on bilateral relations and future cooperation.
During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the longstanding “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between Pakistan and China. Ambassador Jiang reiterated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and development priorities, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the consistency and warmth of China’s foreign policy toward Pakistan.
The discussions focused on accelerating the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with particular emphasis on industrial development, agricultural modernization, and the expansion of special economic zones.
Both sides also explored new areas of cooperation in information technology, renewable energy, and enhanced people-to-people exchanges.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to the Chinese leadership and people for their continued support to Pakistan’s economic stability and efforts for regional peace. Ambassador Jiang underscored the importance of high-level mutual trust and reiterated the shared vision of building an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
