Islamabad, May 19,2026: The Cuban Embassy in the Pakistani capital paid tribute to the national hero, José Martí, on the 131st anniversary of his death in battle at Dos Ríos.

In a simple gathering with Embassy staff, a brief tribute was paid to “the most universal of all Cubans”, particularly for his dedication to uniting patriots at decisive moments for Cuba’s independence.

The Cuban ambassador noted that today, more than ever, under the cruel siege and threats of military aggression that Cuba faces from the empire to the north, José Martí’s maxim that “whoever rises up today for Cuba rises up for all time” remains a living testament to the Cubans’ determination to stand united in defence of their homeland.

Similarly, it is a call for the essential international solidarity that the people of Cuba deserve, now more than ever.
