Islamabad, May 20, 2026: President of the Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) of the National Assembly and Chairperson of the Standing Committee on National Heritage and Culture Division, Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, visited the National Library of Pakistan on Tuesday, where she was briefed on the institution’s operations, archival collections, research facilities, and ongoing initiatives aimed at preserving Pakistan’s literary and cultural heritage.

During the visit, Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar toured various sections of the library, including its archival and research wings, and appreciated efforts being made to preserve rare manuscripts, historical records, and scholarly resources.

She emphasized the importance of digitising archival material and expanding public access to knowledge through modern, technology-driven library services.

Speaking on the occasion, the YPF president said the forum was committed to promoting book-reading and library-going habits among young people in order to strengthen intellectual development, critical thinking, academic engagement, and research culture in the country.

She observed that libraries serve as vital centres of knowledge, enlightenment, and cultural continuity, playing a crucial role in shaping informed and intellectually empowered generations.

Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar also reaffirmed the Young Parliamentarians Forum’s commitment to extending institutional support to the National Library of Pakistan for strengthening its capacity, upgrading facilities, modernising services, and preserving the country’s intellectual and cultural legacy.

The visit also featured discussions on enhancing collaboration in educational outreach programmes, youth engagement initiatives, promotion of reading culture, and expanding access to knowledge resources for students, researchers, and the wider public.
