Islamabad, May 20, 2026: Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan held a series of meetings at Parliament House with government officials, education sector representatives, political figures, and members of the media and arts community to discuss institutional reforms, higher education, cultural harmony, and the country’s political and economic situation.

During a meeting with Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting and Managing Director of Pakistan Television, Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil, discussions focused on the performance of national broadcasting institutions, ongoing reforms, and efforts to align them with modern requirements.

Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan praised the role of Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan, stating that both institutions have played a significant role in public awareness, education, and promoting national consciousness.

He said Pakistan Television has consistently contributed to national unity, cultural harmony, and projecting a positive image of the country, while continuing to provide information, education, and entertainment services across Pakistan, including remote areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil briefed the deputy chairman on institutional reforms, digital expansion initiatives, and efforts being undertaken through PTV World to project Pakistan’s positive image internationally. Syedal Khan expressed satisfaction over the performance of national media institutions and emphasized their role in promoting regional languages, cultures, and traditions.

In another meeting, the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission discussed issues related to higher education in Balochistan, including the establishment of new universities, research promotion, educational facilities, and digital systems improvement.

Syedal Khan stressed that providing quality and modern educational opportunities to the youth of Balochistan is essential for national development and long-term stability. He emphasized the need to strengthen existing educational institutions through modern research facilities, improved infrastructure, digital resources, and enhanced teaching tools to ensure education aligned with international standards.

The HEC chairman also briefed the deputy chairman on ongoing initiatives aimed at improving university capacity and strengthening the online degree verification system. Syedal Khan appreciated the commission’s efforts and called for more effective measures to promote higher education nationwide.

Separately, a delegation led by former federal minister Ghalib Khan and former Deputy Attorney General Farooq Khan Nasir met the deputy chairman to discuss national affairs, public welfare, the economic situation, and proposals regarding government policies.

During the meeting, Syedal Khan appreciated the federal government’s austerity campaign, saying financial discipline had become essential in view of the prevailing economic and regional circumstances. He added that the Senate, as a symbol of the federation, fully supports fiscal responsibility and the government’s savings initiatives.

Renowned artist Wasil Shahid also called on the deputy chairman senate and discussed his artwork and creative projects.

On the occasion, Syedal Khan highlighted the importance of fine arts in promoting Pakistan’s civilizational identity, cultural heritage, and positive social values.
