Islamabad, May 20, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday received a high-level Chinese delegation led by Cai Dafeng, which is visiting Pakistan to participate in celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad and attended by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch.

Welcoming the visiting delegation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the Pakistan-China relationship as a historic and time-tested “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership,” stating that the two countries had built a unique bond anchored in mutual trust and strategic convergence over the past 75 years.

The prime minister conveyed warm greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and the Chinese people on the anniversary of diplomatic relations.

He reiterated Pakistan’s support for China’s core interests and thanked Beijing for its continued support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), describing it as a game-changer for Pakistan’s socio-economic development. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the success of the next phase of CPEC, which will focus on agriculture, information technology, industrial cooperation, and the mining sector.

The prime minister further stated that he was looking forward to his upcoming official visit to China.

Discussing regional developments, Shehbaz Sharif appreciated China’s constructive role in promoting peace and stability in South Asia and the Middle East and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional harmony and multilateral cooperation.

Vice Chairman Cai Dafeng thanked the prime minister for the warm welcome and reiterated the Chinese leadership’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties.

He stated that China would continue supporting Pakistan and maintain close cooperation to build what he described as a “China-Pakistan Community with a Shared Future.”

The Chinese dignitary also expressed support for Pakistan’s role in ongoing regional peace efforts and said China would continue contributing towards global peace and stability.

Both sides underscored the significance of the Pakistan-China “ironclad brotherhood” as a key pillar of peace, development, and stability in the region.
