New York, May 28, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New York on Thursday, where the two leaders discussed recent regional developments and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Pakistan-China strategic cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to promote dialogue and diplomacy aimed at ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region and beyond.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi appreciated and supported Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability, the Foreign Office said.
The two leaders also recalled Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent successful visit to China and highlighted the significance of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Both sides underscored the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries and reiterated their commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
Senator Ishaq Dar is currently visiting New York at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to participate in the United Nations Security Council Open Debate on “Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-Centered International System.”
The debate was held on May 26 under China’s presidency of the UN Security Council
