Islamabad, June 17, 2026: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has launched a major initiative to modernize parliamentary operations through the introduction of a comprehensive mobile application for members of the Upper House, marking a significant step in the Senate Secretariat’s broader digital transformation agenda.

The development was reviewed during a meeting chaired by the Chairman Senate at Parliament House, where Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider briefed participants on the progress of the application, its key features and the benefits it is expected to bring to parliamentary business.

According to the Senate Secretariat, the application has been developed using indigenous resources and in-house technical expertise, reflecting the institution’s commitment to innovation, self-reliance and efficient utilization of public resources.

Speaking on the occasion, Gilani said the initiative was part of efforts to promote the e-Office concept within the Senate Secretariat and align parliamentary operations with modern governance practices.

He emphasized that digitalization is essential for improving efficiency, reducing paperwork, enhancing transparency and ensuring timely access to information for lawmakers. He added that the shift towards digital systems would also contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing paper consumption and minimizing administrative delays.

The Senate Secretary informed the meeting that the user-friendly mobile application has been designed to provide senators with secure and convenient access to parliamentary business and official information through their smartphones and mobile devices.

The application will enable real-time access to Senate proceedings, legislative business, committee-related information, official notifications, parliamentary documents, schedules and other essential resources. Officials said the platform has been developed with a strong focus on security, accessibility and ease of use to ensure a seamless experience for members.

Gilani praised the efforts of Senate Secretariat officers and the technical team involved in developing the application, describing it as a major milestone in building a digitally empowered Senate.

He observed that the adoption of modern technological solutions would save valuable time and resources while enhancing institutional effectiveness and improving service delivery within the parliamentary framework.

The meeting was informed that the formal launch of the Senate Mobile Application will take place in the near future. Following its inauguration, a comprehensive orientation session will be organized for senators to familiarize them with the application’s features and functionalities and ensure its effective use.

Reaffirming his commitment to institutional modernization, the Chairman Senate said the Senate Secretariat would continue to embrace innovation, technology and sustainable administrative practices to meet the evolving requirements of a modern legislature.

The meeting was attended by Senators Nasir Mehmood Butt, Aamir Waliuddin Chishti, Abdul Qadir and Samina Mumtaz Zehri, along with senior officers of the Senate Secretariat.
