Islamabad, June 18, 2026: Türkiye has congratulated Pakistan on the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (IMoU) between the United States and Iran, describing the agreement as a historic diplomatic achievement and expressing support for Pakistan’s role as mediator in the process.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received a telephone call from Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Thursday.

During the conversation, Foreign Minister Fidan congratulated Pakistan on the successful signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which was reached between Washington and Tehran with Pakistan facilitating and endorsing the diplomatic process.

The Turkish foreign minister praised the agreement as a significant step toward reducing tensions and advancing dialogue, while recognizing Pakistan’s efforts in helping bring the two sides closer to an understanding.

The two foreign ministers expressed hope that the development would contribute to lasting peace, stability and progress not only in the Middle East but also across the broader region and beyond.

They emphasized the importance of diplomacy, dialogue and constructive engagement in addressing regional challenges and fostering a stable international environment.

The call reflects the close and longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye, with both countries continuing to coordinate on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Türkiye joins a growing number of countries that have welcomed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic role in facilitating engagement between the United States and Iran, a process widely viewed as an important step toward sustainable peace and regional stability.
