Islamabad, June 22, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday briefed China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, on recent diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region, including the high-level talks held in Switzerland under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Jiang called on the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister at the Foreign Office in Islamabad.

During the meeting, Senator Dar shared developments related to the High-Level Talks on the implementation of the Islamabad MoU, which recently took place in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. He also recalled his participation in the R-4 Regional Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Cairo alongside the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye, where discussions focused on advancing collective efforts to facilitate dialogue and peaceful resolution of regional issues.

The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated China’s consistent support for Pakistan’s peace initiatives and acknowledged Beijing’s constructive role in promoting regional stability. He particularly highlighted Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Four-Point Proposal and the China-Pakistan Five-Point Initiative as significant contributions to ongoing peace efforts.

Ambassador Jiang congratulated Pakistan on its successful diplomatic engagement aimed at reducing tensions and promoting dialogue. He reaffirmed China’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s mediation efforts and its role in fostering durable peace and stability in the region.

Both sides underscored the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement and emphasized that all outstanding issues should be resolved through dialogue, negotiations, and peaceful means.

The meeting also reflected the close coordination between Islamabad and Beijing on regional and international developments. Senator Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining regular consultations with China to advance the shared objectives of peace, stability, and common development.

He further reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to deepen the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and enhance cooperation across a range of political, economic, and diplomatic areas.

The exchange comes amid heightened diplomatic activity in the region, with Pakistan playing an increasingly active role in facilitating dialogue and confidence-building measures aimed at reducing tensions and promoting regional peace.
