Karachi, June 27, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the Pakistan Navy, safeguarding the country’s maritime frontiers and promoting peace and stability across the region.
Addressing the passing-out ceremony of the 125th Midshipmen and 33rd Short Service Commission (SSC) Courses at the Pakistan Naval Academy, PNS Rahbar, the prime minister said Pakistan’s armed forces had once again demonstrated professionalism, courage and operational readiness in the face of evolving security challenges.
He said the Pakistan Navy had played a vital role in protecting the country’s maritime interests, ensuring the uninterrupted flow of sea trade and maintaining credible deterrence during recent regional tensions.
Highlighting Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement, Prime Minister Shehbaz said the country had emerged as a responsible and peace-promoting state on the global stage by facilitating dialogue among regional and international partners and consistently advocating the peaceful resolution of disputes through diplomacy.
He particularly commended Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his efforts in advancing peace and diplomatic engagement, saying the recent visit of Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian to Pakistan reflected the strong brotherly ties between the two neighbouring countries and acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace.
The prime minister also praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces, stating that they had displayed exceptional competence during “Marka-e-Haq” and “Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos.”
He reiterated that the government would continue investing in the country’s maritime security capabilities to ensure the effective defence of Pakistan’s territorial waters and contribute to stability across the wider region.
